Presentation

The Unit of Chemical and Radiopharmaceutical Sciences (UCRS) owes its strength to its versatile capability of synthesis and characterization of compounds and on the development and application of nuclear and related methods as well on a significant number of analytical and physico-chemical techniques. These capabilities have allowed to proceed and reinforce research work on materials science, health, environmental chemistry and cultural heritage.

1. Research Activity Groups

The Unit of Chemical and Radiopharmaceutical Sciences  comprises the following research groups:

  • 1.1. Radiopharmaceutical Sciences
Design, synthesis, characterization and biological evaluation of new radioactive compounds interesting for imaging and/or therapy, namely metal (Tc, Re,Ln) and halogen based drugs.
  • 1.2. Solid State
Synthesis and characterization of new materials with unconventional electrical and magnetic properties
  • 1.3. Applied Geochemistry & Luminescence on Cultural Heritage
Geochemical, mineralogical and dating studies of the Portuguese archaeological and architectural heritage.
  • 1.4. Environmental and Analytical Chemistry
Elemental, isotopic and dating techniques in Environmental Change research (Geochemical, Hydrologic and Oceanographic studies) and Archaeometry.
  • 1.5. Inorganic and Organometallic Chemistry
Synthesis, characterization and chemical reactivity and catalytic studies of inorganic, organometallic and intermetallic compounds of actinides and lanthanides.
