Main Scientific Area of Research

  • The research activity has been essentially related with the synthesis and study of new molecular conductors and molecule-based magnets, mostly charge transfer salt type materials. In particular, the study of the correlations between the crystal structure and the electrical conduction and magnetic properties of materials has been the one major goals, as one of the major challenges in the field of molecular materials is to design molecular systems that exhibit predictable conducting or magnetic properties. An increasing attention has been also given to the study of multifunctional spin crossover materials. In these, the major goal is to obtain switchable molecular conductors, where the electrical conduction can be controlled by external perturbations, such as temperature, pressure, or light.
