Main Scientific Area of Research

  • The main scientific activity of Isabel Santos is in inorganic and organometallic chemistry of d- and f-transition metals and in radiochemistry. She has been studying mainly d- and f-transition metal - based drugs potentially interesting for medical applications, namely for diagnostic and/or therapy.
  • She is the leader of the Radiopharmaceutical Sciences Group, Unit of Chemistry Department, ITN.
  • She has mentored 6 Graduation Thesis, has supervised the work of 6 BIC fellows, has mentored 1 Master student, and 6 PhD students and has supervised the work of 6 Post-doctoral fellows.
  • She has organized, coordinates and teaches, in collaboration with the University of Lisbon and some Hospitals of Lisbon, a Master Course ″Biomedical Inorganic Chemistry: Diagnostic and Therapeutical Applications″ (DR nº 123, 26/05/04, II série). First Edition 2004-2005; Second Edition 2005/2006; Third Edition 2006/2007.
  • She has also organized some courses for Physicians Resident in Nuclear Medicine, which are supported by her group (Portaria 55572003, 11 June).
