Main Scientific Area of Research

  • Elemental and isotopic analysis and its application in Environmental, Earth and Material Sciences. Scientific activity has been focused on Sediment Geochemistry research carried out along the main Iberian drainage basins and adjacent shelf to understand the main factors that influence sediment composition during transport and deposition.
  • Studies of metallic artefacts with archaeological and museological interest, based on non-invasive, microanalytical and microstructural techniques to establish their provenance, fabrication technologies and corrosion processes.
  • She is the leader of the Environmental and Analytical Chemistry Group since 1998.

Teaching Activities

  • Since 2003, she has been collaborating with the Conservation and Restoration Department of the New University of Lisbon.
  • Since 2003, she has collaborated in several Master Courses of the University of Lisbon: Applied Analytical Chemistry, Applied Chemistry to the Cultural Heritage, Applied and Economical Geology and Prehistory and Archaeology.
