Main Scientific Areas of Research

  • The main activity of Elsa Branco Lopes involves the study of low dimensional conductors with interesting transport properties and their correlation to structural data. The transport properties studied are the electrical resistivity, thermoelectric power, thermal conductivity and magnetoresistance. The type of solids studied include low dimensional molybdenum bronzes and organic conductors and high temperature superconductors. More recently she became involved in the study of transport in the d and f intermetallic compounds in the search for compounds with unconventional transport properties like superconductivity, heavy fermion and high ZT thermoelectric materials.
